Underrecognized Doesn’t Mean Underqualified

A mid-year reminder that you’re not behind and your work still matters

Hey, it’s Jerrica.

We’re halfway through 2025, and I know how easy it is to feel like time is slipping. Like you’re behind. Like other people are doing so much while you’re still figuring out your next step.

But let me say this clearly — underrecognized does not mean underqualified.

This industry will have you thinking you need permission. That you need more proof, more followers, more something. But you don’t. You just need to keep showing up and keep building.

You’re not behind. You’re being built.

Built through the projects that don’t hit the way you want.
Built through the late nights getting on stage to 3 people in the audience.
Built through the silence after you post something you’re proud of and it doesn’t go viral.

None of it is wasted. It’s all part of the story you’re telling with your work and your life.

I know what it’s like to put your heart into something and still feel unseen. I’ve worked in this industry for over 12 years. I’ve sat in the rooms. I’ve built the audiences, campaigns and so much more. I’ve seen the wins and the burnouts.

And still, I’m here. Still betting on myself. Still helping other creatives learn how to bet on themselves too.

Next week we’ll get into brand partnerships, why you need to be on LinkedIn (yes, even if you're a filmmaker, comedian, or storyteller), and how to build a creator strategy that works for you.

If you’re not on LinkedIn yet, give it a whirl. I promise you — creatives are showing up over there and thriving.

Talk soon.
