Hey, it’s Jerrica.

This week tried me.

I’ve been writing, applying, pitching, hoping.
And getting rejected like it's my job.

Dream jobs ghosted me. Fellowships passed.
The silence was loud. The auto-responses louder.

For a second, I let it break me.
Then I remembered who I am.

I am and will always be that girl.
And I want the same for you.

If you're chasing something real, rejection comes with it.
You won’t get every grant. You’ll miss a few deadlines.
Some people just won’t see it. Let them look away.

Because the people who keep going?
They're the ones who get chosen last and still win.

This is your reminder:
If you’re in your “watch me” era, I see you.
If you’re crawling your way back to belief, I see you too.

Let this be your reminder:

You don’t need everyone to get it.
You just need to keep going.

You were always that girl.
You still are.
And they’ll see it soon enough.

What’s inside this issue:

  • A mindset reframe to help you rise after rejection

  • 5 truths to remember when you feel discouraged

  • A reminder of your power (for the days you forget)

  • A micro action step to rebuild your momentum today

THE MAIN ATTRACTION

Rejection Isn’t the End. It’s Evidence.

If you’re stacking up rejections, it means you’re out there. You’re in the arena. Most people never even get that far.

Yes, it hurts.
Yes, it’s exhausting.
Yes, you want to scream when someone says “maybe next time.”

But here’s the thing:
Every time you try, you're refining your pitch, sharpening your clarity, and making it easier for the right opportunity to find you.

Rejection is just the tax you pay for having the audacity to believe in yourself.

The work still matters. The vision is still real. And you? You’re still the one.

MINDSET SHIFTS TO STAY IN MOTION

1. Don’t internalize what’s not personal.
Most rejections are about timing, capacity, fit or bias. It doesn’t mean you weren’t good. It means it wasn’t the right room.

2. You’re not being punished. You’re being prepared.
Every “no” teaches you something: about your voice, your work, your positioning. Use it. Adjust. Keep building.

3. The silence is part of the story.
Some of the best comebacks start in seasons where no one’s paying attention. You’re still becoming. That’s not failure. It’s formation.

4. Let it fuel you.
Move from “why not me” to “watch me.” Make the rejection irrelevant by building something undeniable.

5. Rejection is data. Not a dead end.
Track what you sent, who you pitched, what didn’t land and look for patterns. That’s not defeat. That’s market research.

ACTION STEP
Revisit one thing you gave up on too early. A pitch. A series. A story. Pick it back up. Tweak it. Post it. Share it. Move it forward. Your next win might be one “no” away.

You're still that one.
Still worthy. Still building. Still becoming.

Jerrica
