Do One Thing Forward

If you didn't create this week, this is for you.

If you're in a rut, if your dreams feel impossible right now, if you've been laying in bed longer than you should be, this is for you.

Because I was you this morning (and have been many many times).

I woke up sad. Depressed. That heavy kind of sad where your dreams feel impossible and your bed feels like the safest place you've ever been.

I laid there for a minute. Definitely a few hours.

And then I did something.

I got up.

That's it. That's the first thing. I got up. Took a shower. Walked my dog. And I felt a little better.

But here's what actually shifted it. Here's what I want you to try today.

I acted toward the goal.

I sat down and made seven videos for my Kickstarter. Seven. In one sitting. In the same state I woke up in thinking having my own show was possible.

When my brain is telling me nothing is possible, I don't argue with it. I don't try to think my way out of it. I act toward the goal. One small thing that moves me an inch closer to what I actually want.

Now for you that might be opening Final Draft. Writing the first line of the pitch. Filming one video. Sending one email. Booking the audition. Posting the thing you've been sitting on for a month. Anything.

Just one thing forward.

This week has been one of the biggest weeks of my life in a long time. And I almost missed it because of mornings like this one.

On Wednesday, I emceed the largest creator conference on the East Coast. My boss was supposed to do it. His flight got delayed. He called me past midnight and asked if I could step in. I said yes. Woke up. Got there at 8am. And I did it. He came later in the day and we closed the show together!

I stood on one of the biggest stages in America for the creator economy and I ran the show.

The largest creator conference, Creator Economy Live East, on the East Coast. Me. On 8 hours notice.

And it felt like every single thing I've ever done mattered. Every improv class. Every sketch. Every stand up set. Every audition. Every panel and workshop and free speaking gig I did just to get the reps. All of it led me right there.

I was ready. I was comfortable. I knew the right questions to ask.

Same week. Same exact week. I signed the contract for my first paid speaking gig later this year.

All the free work led to this. Every panel I did for free. Every workshop I hosted for the exposure. Every stage I stepped on because I wanted the reps. All of it.

Dropping visuals to go with the energy/vibe of the world I’m building in my show.l I haven’t posted consistently in YEARS. 7,000 people came to my page over 5 days. The growth doesn't happen when you're watching. It happens when you keep posting.

Same week. Same exact week. I stopped overthinking and just launched the push for my Kickstarter. September 14. That's the date. I'm raising $10,000 to make my vertical series. I've been posting about it every single day, Monday through Friday, and I will keep going until launch day. I said I'm just gonna do it. And I'm doing it.

I know what it feels like to wake up thinking your dreams aren't happening for you. I know what it feels like to look at everyone else's highlight reel and wonder why you're not there yet. I know what it feels like to think the work isn't adding up.

But here's the thing.

That Wednesday didn't come from Wednesday. That paid contract didn't come from this week. That Kickstarter launch didn't come out of nowhere. It all came from every single day before it where I did one thing forward, even when I didn't feel like it. Especially when I didn't feel like it.

You are building your Wednesday right now.

You are stacking the reps for the paid gig you don't have yet.

You are writing the first line of a show that hasn't been greenlit yet.

You just can't see it because you're inside it.

So today, do one thing forward.

Pick up the pencil. Open Final Draft. Get back on stage. Write the email. Post the content. Send the pitch. Book the flight. Hit publish. Film the video. Make the ask.

If I can do it, you can do it.

We're in this together.

September 14. Mark it. My Kickstarter drops. And I'm gonna need you there with me. But before then, before any of that, I need you to do one thing forward today.

Then tell me what it was. Hit reply. I want to know.
